      I'm Tired

I'm Tired of seeing my friend cut herself.

      I'm Tired

I'm Tired of seeing pregnant teenagers.

      I'm Tired

I'm Tired of seeing starving children

      I'm Tired

      I'm Tired of rapists

      I'm Tired

I'm Tired of not being able to show myself for who I am

      I'm Tired.

I'm Tired of this century not standing up for what they believe in.

We could make a difference if we only tried.

The century before us has handed us the power to do whatever we want with our future and we have tossed it away carelessly. We're too tired. So have we given up?

Or are you ready to help start fighting? Fighting for what we believe in? Fighting for Christ? Are You Fighting?

      Or are you too tired?

When Columbus told us that nothing ever happens in Zanesville, they were right .
      But that was before .

Last weekend (May 9th and 10th), Zanesville had an event that led bands and artists Michael Gungor , Seventh Day Slumber , and Pillar into our little town that NOTHING ever happens in.

Also that joined us, were Rick Alonzo and Joel Penton . Rick is an amazing Martial Artist Painter who graciously donated one of his paintings to my Youth Ministry, and sold the other three for only 200 dollars. They were worth about $1,500 .

Joel Penton is a former Ohio State Buckeye, and he came to hang out with us on the 10th as well. He spoke to his fans, and even to a Michigan fan lurking in the crowd.

My Youth Pastor, Adam King , was the main speaker at this event. He and his wife Jennifer made sure the weekend ran smoothly.

On the first night of Battlecry For Zanesville , I got the chance to speak to a young girl who is friends with my younger sister.
She had fresh scars all over her arms from where she had recently cut herself, again . She's been in and out of the hospital, and has attempted suicide many times before. This girl got down on her knees after the drama (Lifehouse "Everything") and she gave her heart and her life to God . I got the chance to pray with this amazing and beautiful girl, and she even thanked and hugged me with tears running down her face and mine.

That weekend was amazing . It's so insane to believe that our little town can do something like that. The fact that my church was able to get Pillar , Seventh Day Slumber , Michael Gungor , Rick Alonzo , and Joel Penton to come to our little town.

Daddy never ceases to amaze me.

The next BattleCry for Zanesville is going to be the first weekend in April of 2009.
Maybe I'll see you there. :)

  • Shining Moment

    • From: HisStar
    • Description:

“What difference is my life making?”
It’s so easy to wonder that. I mean, in the grand scheme of things, it’s easy to get discouraged. We see people in the changing the word, then we cast a loathsome glance at our own lives while thinking “If only I were famous…” We feel like we aren’t impacting anyone, or changing anyone’s life. All we have are a few friends, but really… that’s not a HUGE difference.
But I realized something… it’s in those thoughts that we miss our greatest calling. What is it?
      The here and now.
We get preoccupied by the dreams of the future, we don’t realized the lives that are being influenced and changed by our mere presence in their lives.

I was able to watch Dallas Battlecry on the internet this year. They had this play called The Bema. Basically, it’s about a group of teens who find themselves at the throne of God, giving an account for their every action, word and deed they were responsible for here on earth. The theme was “What a difference one day makes.”
It was a story about how their lives intersected each other’s… and they didn’t even know it. People were changed for better and sometimes for worse, because of the example they set. But what really got me thinking was the part where God told them about all of the lives they “Indirectly” effected.

You know, it’s so easy to get upset over our present not-so-famous/influential-position, not realizing that this could be our shining moment.
That kid with scares on his arms who sits in the corner? Your life shining God’s light into his dark word could ignite a fire in him that would lead him to becoming the next youth evangelist, leading thousands to Christ. That girl who blends in and no one cares to talk to? One person coming into her life and showing her Jesus. That could propel her and give her a passion for children, so she would go on to start a world wide orphanage ministry. All because you looked beyond your present status and saw a need. Your friends? Your encouragement could be the one thing that is keeping them from pulling the stops on their dreams.

I think what the problem is… we underestimate ourselves. But most of all, we underestimate God. Because all throughout the Bible, rarely were the circumstances just “perfect” when God moved most powerfully. There was David and Goliath. A small shepherd boy, looked down on by his siblings and probably his parents who thought he would always be the little guy. But in the middle of a battlefield, with the opposing army taunting and the Israeli warriors trembling, God moved through that small shepherd boy. And he became on of the greatest kings that has ever lived. Now, let’s pause for a moment. David didn’t have the optimal situation here. He was a mere boy who was looked down on, and was in the middle of a war zone when God said “Okay, this is your moment.”

Another example is Mary. Now her situation is this. She’s a young virgin girl, living a normal life and is engaged to marry a carpenter. When all of a sudden, God sends His angel to tell her that she will become pregnant and give birth to the Messiah. When this happened, can you imagine what she is thinking? It wasn’t like now where teen pregnancy is more or less “normal”. She was still single and was going to have a child. In those days she would have been stoned to death if she was found out to have committed adultery. She knew the risks of people not believing her, and probably thought of her fiancé. You know, I really believe that when she said “May it be as you say”, she laid it all on the line. She knew the chance was high that her fiancé would break up with her, that her family wouldn’t believe her and most likely disown her, and that she would run a high risk of being stoned to death. But she trusted God to protect her, and through that, her life became something she would have never dreamed. Because she took the challenge most people would have run from, we still speak of the greatest story ever told.

So… what does this all translate to? Sometimes what we view as success and opportunity isn’t God’s view of it. The BIGGEST moment of our lives may not be when cameras are being shoved in our faces. But instead, maybe it’s when we take the time to befriend that lonely kid. When we take a moment to encourage a friend to pursue their dreams, and to not give up. Maybe it’s found when we look beyond ourselves to help someone up. Because you know what? It’s not just their lives that are affected. It’s the lives they affect, because of what God did through you.

All this to say… the lime light may very well come. I think a lot of us here will be in the spotlight because we will revolutionized the world for Christ. But while you’re waiting for God to say “This is your time”, reach out wherever you can. Don’t be so consumed with your future, that you forget the people standing next to you that need encouragement to continue on. Your biggest accomplishment in life could be happening right now, before your very eyes. That person you sit next to could be the next president. Your friend could very well be the kid who changes his town forever, or that girl could be the one to take the music industry by storm. Your best friend could very easily be the next Billy Graham. Never underestimate the influence you have right now. It may seem small, but every life has a Domino effect. And one day could make a world of difference. Literally.
